Participatory Resource Research and Training Centre (PARC)

PARC is a mission and joint effort of a group of professionals, scientists and technicians for sustainable environment through participatory resource management studies undertaken by Grameena Patana Kendram.

  • To develop alternative models of participatory resource management.

  • To conduct training programmes related to decentralised planning, resource mapping, surveys and related areas.

  • To organise workshops, seminars, discussions on Sustainable Development, Natural and Human Resource Management etc.

  • To conduct studies on Environmental impact Assessment, Environmental Protection, Local Resources Analysis and Evaluation etc.

  • To organise and conduct Watershed Development Studies and Micro-Watershed Management Initiatives.

  • To organise and conduct Human Resource Development Study.

  • To organise and conduct studies in Association with other Government agencies and NGO groups.

  • To support Local Government Institutions in Resource Management, Developmental planning, maintenance of natural environment.

Major Projects

  • RAMDeM (Responsive Administration A Management Development Mechanism)

    Responsive Administration – a Management Development Mechanism is an action research project initiated by GPK in Karakulam and Nellanadu Grama Panchayats with the assistance of SDC-CapDeck. The main objective of the project is to create a local government system responsible to the public.

    The activities of the project focuses on to ensure the transparency of the local administrative and official system. Capacity development of the officials and elected representatives in the administrative system.

    Improving the service delivery mechanism through local governments, ensuring the public participation in administration process. This project tries to enhance the capacity of the local governments to perform their constitutional functions effectively.

    It also aimed to do innovative experiments in local governance and administrative mechanism. As part of this project we have conducted number of training programmes for elected representatives, officials and voluntary workers. We also developed 14 working guidelines for the institutions coming under gram panchayath.
